    Literature and Culture: A Survey of Ruskin Bond’s Works in Special Context to the Present World

    The most ancient and the mother of almost every culture of the world, Indian culture has been immortal with its traditional entity. It is the purest one with its refined traits and inside it; there lies love, respect and egoless personality. Basic elements of it have been inspiring and combining not only Indians but the foreigners also. In spite of the diversity, whole India is a unity because of its common culture and that is why when the ancient cultures and civilizations of the world e.g., Greek, Egyptian and Rome have perished but Indian culture and civilization is intact even today. Behind Indian culture there are major features such as the spirit of deism, coordination, unity in diversity, ancientness, and benevolence and these are life-giving elements that calm us down and assure us to withstand the attack of post modern mechanized culture. History tells that the imbibing power of Indian culture is employed under its currents, either trying to make itself most beautiful or battling and defeating inner or outer foes. Today the whole world is accepting the greatness of Indian culture, besides many causes, contributions of many philosophers and ideologists are also appreciable in its publicity and dissemination. Classical writers like Kalidas, Shudrak, Bhas, Shri Harsh etc. have disclosed the culture of the golden era of India in their works; for in the shadow of literature, features of particular age are hidden. Later a long series of the writers of regional languages have echoed and expanded the Indian way of living, thinking, and behavior, according to their own style. Anglo-Indian literature is also not spared this particular subject and many writers are contributing in spreading Indian culture throughout the world. Ruskin Bond is one of the shiniest stars in this galaxy and his whole literature is based on ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ ideology.     Indian history has been a deponent of ups and downs in the position of women. In the Vedic era, they attained the highest place in society. Later in post-Vedic era they were accused of many disabilities and their freedom was banned. In middle age their position became very pathetic. So a necessity is felt for reconsideration of women's condition with the angle of Indian attitude. In contemporary age, many efforts are being done to resolve this social injustice. Indian intellectuals have been advocating for equal rights, equality, and co-operation between both genders for long ages, but it was in the British period when women uplift started. The result of all efforts made in this direction is that women have started to establish new dimensions in various areas, e.g., in education, politics, social, economic, administration, and in games and sports. In the literary area their contribution can also not be underestimated. Many female writers such as Arundhati Roy, Jhumpa Lahri, Shashi Despande, Shobha De and many others are raising their voices for women rights and women empowerment. Today women-deliberation has become a vivid question in every area of life so much that prominent male writers are also giving them a special niche in their writings. In male stream, Ruskin Bond is carrying this trend forward to maintain a balance between the two genders.     Alteration in Serum Lipid Profile Pattern in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Potentially Malignant Disorders

    Objective: To evaluate and compare lipid profile level in oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF), oral leukoplakia (OL) and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) patients. Material and Methods: Thirty histopathologically diagnosed subjects each of OL, OSMF, OSCC were recruited along with 30 healthy controls. 5ml of venous blood is collected and estimated using standard diagnostic kits. Results: The mean of Total cholesterol level in controls was 219.03 mg%, in OSCC, OL and OSMF was 142.89 ± 10.21mg%, 155.44 ± 17.63 mg% and 180.60 ± 13.25 mg%, respectively. The mean low-density lipid level in controls was 137.24 mg and in OSCC, OL and OSMF groups were 109.28 ± 2.16 mg%, 126.63 ± 0.85 mg% and 119.15 ± 0.93 mg%, respectively. The mean of high-density lipid level in controls, OSCC, OL and OSMF was 42.87 ± 0.42 mg%, 36.50 ± 2.31 mg%, 21.13 ± 0.77 mg% and 28.37 ± 1.11mg%, respectively. The mean of very low density lipids level in controls, OSCC, OL and OSMF was 30.12 ± 1.51 mg%, 17.24 ± 0.80 mg%, 22.25 ± 0.93 mg% and 25.89 ± 0.43 mg%, respectively. The mean triglyceride level in controls, OSCC, OL and OSMF was 118.80 ± 9.47 mg%, 91.2 ± 3.03 mg%, 105.05 ± 2.96 mg% and 106.19 ± 3.09 mg%, respectively.     Performance Evaluation of Exponential Discriminant Analysis with Feature Selection for Steganalysis

    The performance of supervised learning-based seganalysis depends on the choice of both classifier and features which represent the image. Features extracted from images may contain irrelevant and redundant features which makes them inefficient for machine learning. Relevant features not only decrease the processing time to train a classifier but also provide better generalisation. Linear discriminant classifier which is commonly used for classification may not be able to classify in better way non-linearly separable data. Recently, exponential discriminant analysis, a variant of linear discriminant analysis (LDA), is proposed which transforms the scatter matrices to a new space by distance diffusion mapping. This provides exponential discriminant analysis (EDA) much more discriminant power to classify non-linearly separable data and helps in improving classification accuracy in comparison to LDA. In this paper, the performance of EDA in conjunction with feature selection methods has been investigated. For feature selection, Kullback divergence, Chernoff distance measures and linear regression measures are used to determine relevant features from higher-order statistics of images. The performance is evaluated in terms classification error and computation time.     ROLE OF PHALASARPI UTTARBASTI IN THE MANAGEMENT OF LOW ANTRAL FOLLICLES: A CASE STUDY

    A female patient of 26 years old came into the OPD of Prasuti-Tantra at Choudhary Brahm Prakash Ayurveda Charaka Sansathan, Khera Dabar, New Delhi on dated 25/02/2017 with the complaint of wants to conceive since 3 years and scanty flow during menstrual cycle since 1year. On enquiry, she told that, she had miscarriage last year in January 2016 of gestational age 1month 6 days. Her menstrual cycle was irregular with duration of 3-5 days and interval of 28 to 32 days with scanty amount (1 pad/day) of menstrual blood and no other associated symptoms. She gave previous history of allopathic treatment. Her all Investigations regarding infertility had normal study except ultrasonography (USG) report which revealed Low antral follicles count. Aim of the management was to increase the Low Antral Follicles count as it is one of the cause of infertility and which represents poor ovarian reserve. So, the drug Phalasarpi as mentioned by Aacharya Vagbhatta for the conception was selected for Uttra Basti and Oral use as in- vivo effect of Phalasarpi in albino rat has revealed increased Gonadotropin secretion and regulation of the activity of the enzymes involved in ovarian steroidogenesis and stimulates serum estradiol level and proved to be successful in Anovulatory Infertility.

    Systematic optimization and experimental validation of simulated moving bed chromatography systems for ternary separations and equilibrium limited reactions

    Simulated Moving Bed (SMB) chromatography is a separation process where the components are separated due to their varying affinity towards the stationary phase. Over the past decade, many modifications have been proposed in SMB chromatography in order to effectively separate a binary mixture. However, the separation of multi-component mixtures using SMB is still one of the major challenges. Although many different strategies have been proposed, previous studies have rarely performed comprehensive investigations for finding the best ternary separation strategy from various possible alternatives. Furthermore, the concept of combining reaction with SMB has been proposed in the past for driving the equilibrium limited reactions to completion by separating the products from the reaction zone. However, the design of such systems is still challenging due to the complex dynamics of simultaneous reaction and adsorption. The first objective of the study is to find the best ternary separation strategy among various alternatives design of SMB. The performance of several ternary SMB operating schemes, that are proposed in the literature, are compared in terms of the optimal productivity obtained and the amount of solvent consumed. A multi- objective optimization problem is formulated which maximizes the SMB productivity and purity of intermediate eluting component at the same time. Furthermore, the concept of optimizing a superstructure formulation is proposed, where numerous SMB operating schemes can be incorporated into a single formulation. This superstructure approach has a potential to find more advantageous operating scheme compared to existing operating schemes in the literature. The second objective of the study is to demonstrate the Generalized Full Cycle (GFC) operation experimentally for the first time, and compare its performance to the JO process. A Semba OctaveTM chromatography system is used as an experimental SMB unit to implement the optimal operating schemes. In addition, a simultaneous optimization and model correction (SOMC) scheme is used to resolve the model mismatch in a systematic way. We also show a systematic comparison of both JO and GFC operations by presenting a Pareto plot of the productivity achieved against the desired purity of the intermediate eluting component experimentally. The third objective of the study is to develop an simulated moving bed reactor (SMBR) process for an industrial-scale application, and demonstrate the potential of the ModiCon operation for improving the performance of the SMBR compared to the conventional operating strategy. A novel industrial application involving the esterification of acetic acid and 1-methoxy-2-propanol is considered to produce propylene glycol methyl ether (PMA) as the product. A multi-objective optimization study is presented to find the best reactive separation strategy for the production of the PMA product. We also present a Pareto plot that compares the ModiCon operation, which allows periodical change of the feed composition and the conventional operating strategy for the optimal production rate of PMA that can be achieved against the desired conversion of acetic acid.Ph.D

    Fecal Microbiota Transplantation: Indications, Methods, Evidence, and Future Directions

    Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) has attracted great interest in recent years, largely due to the global Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) epidemic and major advances in metagenomic sequencing of the gastrointestinal (GI) microbiota, with growing understanding of its structure and function. FMT is now recommended as the most effective therapy for relapsing CDI and, with further refinement, may even be used in “first-time” CDI. There is interest also in other conditions related to GI dysbiosis—for example, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, obesity, and diabetes mellitus—although quality evidence is at present lacking. A few trials are now underway in FMT for ulcerative colitis.     Nanotechnology is an enabling technology that potentially impacts all aspects of the chip-making practice from materials to devices, to circuits, and to system-level architecture. Nanoelectronics is an interdisciplinary division which refers to the use of nanotechnology in electronic components. The materials and devices used in nanoelectronics are so small that the interatomic interactions and quantum mechanical properties of such materials need to be studied extensively. Various electronic devices manufactured at nanoscale have been established: devices having negative differential resistance, switches which can be electrically configured, tunneling junctions, carbon nanotube (CNT) transistor, and unimolecular transistor. Some devices have also been linked together to form circuits proficient of performing functions such as logic functions and basic memory. Some of the widely used materials in nanoelectronics include zero-dimensional materials like quantum dots; one-dimensional materials like nanotubes and nanowires; nanoclusters and nanocomposites; carbon-based materials like carbon nanotubes (CNTs), fullerenes and graphene; etc. Plastic C nanoelectronics is also a prominent research area with collaboration between the materials science, chemistry, physics, nanotechnology, and engineering communities. As one of the most promising contenders, C nanostructures, either 2D graphene or quasi-1D CNTs, have unlocked entirely new standpoints concerning the C-based electronics.     Analysing the impact of marriage on women's behavior and self development in Uttar Pradesh, India

    Abstract Marriage is a relation between man and woman to have legitimate sex and legitimate children but above these goals it is to give mutual support and contribute to mutual success. In India the impact of marriage on women can be more visible than that of men because Indian woman has to leave her parents home and move into her husband's home after marriage. This means a complete change of environment. This study sought to trace some of the main features of the impact of this change among 250 married women of Uttar Pradesh. In particular it sought possible answers to questions such as the right age for the marriage and to evaluate the changes in behavior of the women after marriage. It was found that marriage age after 25 was better for the self development of women, that marriage did develop women to become more responsible, that there was behavioral change of woman after marriage, and that married women perceived a greater satisfaction with life. Nevertheless for further empowerment married women should acquire better skills in decision making, communication and problem solving.
